Spicy Lemon Margaritas with Chipotle Honey & Tajin Rim

There’s something special about a cocktail that sets the tone for the entire evening. These Spicy Lemon Margaritas are bright, fiery, and balanced, with a sweet-spicy rim that makes each sip unforgettable. I originally created this cocktail as part of my Elevated Taco Tuesday spread, but it quickly became a favorite in its own right.

This margarita is equal parts refreshing and bold. The tart lemon, balanced sweetness, and subtle smokiness from the rim create a layered flavor experience that lingers on the palate. It pairs beautifully with tacos, charcuterie, and any gathering that calls for something a little special.

The Recipe : Spicy Lemon Margaritas with Chipotle Honey & Tajin Rim

  • 1 part lemon juice

  • 1 part simple syrup

  • 1 part orange liqueur

  • 1 part agave tequila

  • Chipotle honey (for the rim)

  • Tajin seasoning (for the rim)

  • Fresh red chilies, thinly sliced, for garnish

  • Lemon slices for garnish

  1. Prepare the Rim

Dip the rim of each glass into chipotle mixed with honey, then into Tajin seasoning to create a sweet, smoky, and spicy crust.


  1. Shake the Margarita

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine lemon juice, simple syrup, orange liqueur, and tequila. Shake well until chilled.


  1. Serve and Garnish

Strain into the prepared glasses over fresh ice. Garnish with thinly sliced red chilies and lemon slices.
